A Shady Creek flows toward Carlsbad
Oil by Available Oil Paintings on Linen panel 16 x 20 x 1/4 Available
This scene is from the creek at Elfin Forest State Park. The tree shadows and the break-through sunny spots played across the boulders, smaller rocks and rapidly flowing creek that sped over and around rocks that made a footbridge to the other side. The challenge here was to capture the contrasting areas of shade and sunlight as well as the still and reflective water compared to the rapidly moving white water; both needed to be set against the forest on the opposite side of the creek.
This painting is in the COAL July Members Show at the North Coastal Art Gallery (NCAG) in Carlsbad. The framed painting is available through them.
